These are pictures from our trip to Whitby last year to visit the artist, Alan Davies, who was commissioned to make some new windows for the church. The window photographed here and also another - also by Alan Davies - are now installed in the church: why not visit to see them?

It has been a hundred years since the ourbreak of the, 'war to end all wars'. Together with the local community, St Philip and St James' Church will be organizing a number of events to mark certain points during the war, These will begin on 2nd August, 7pm, at Nettlesworth Community Centre (Memorial Hall) with an evening of entertainment including a dance with singer performing songs from the period. On 3rd August, there will be a tea party at 2pm and also a themed service at the Church at 10.45am (NB It says 10th August on the poster below, but it really is the 3rd and we have yet to change it properly!!), followed by a buffet lunch. The Memorial Book was set up in 2004 to create a permanent record of the passing of a loved one.
It is opened at the appropriate pages throughout the year when the church is in use (usually Sunday). The people whose names are recorded in the book are remembered during our prayers each week and at the All Souls Service on the Sunday nearest to 2nd November each year.
If you would like to have the name of a loved one entered in the book, please download and complete a Memorial Book Request form (below). We do ask for a small donation (£5. Cheques payable to: St Philip and St James PCC).
-
We meet on the first Tuesday of every month at 1.30 pm in the Church Hall (downstairs).
-
While durhamnorthteam is our 'main' website, and should contain all you might need to know about what we're up to, you may still wish to visit out other website. Its address is:
